Job Vacancy: Private Rented Sector Officer

Your main duties

  • To increase provision of private rented sector accommodation for single people who are homeless in Leicester

  • Working in partnership with Leicester City Council (LCC) to develop joint working relationships with private sector landlords

  • To source suitable, affordable accommodation for single people and ensure they move on from emergency or temporary accommodation

  • Promote LCC’s Private Sector Access and Incentive Schemes with both landlords and residents to fulfil private rented housing need in the City support and lead the residents on a journey from referral to exit, following agreed procedures, needs assessments, support plans.

We are looking for an individual who

  • Has relevant experience working with people who have been homeless

  • Is able to build positive relationships with our residents

  • Is able to build positive relationships with private rented sector landlords, the Local Authority and other stakeholders

  • Has experience of working in one or more of the following areas: homelessness, private rented sector liaison or lettings, housing advice, income/welfare/debt advice & advocacy

  • Has good communication skills written and verbal

  • Has a good understanding and awareness of safeguarding issues

  • Is able to stay calm in challenging situations

  • Is committed to achieving positive outcomes for individuals who are homeless

  • Feels comfortable both lone-working and with other team members

  • You will be working with a team of support workers who are dedicated and committed to supporting individuals from rough sleeping into permanent homes.

What we do

One Roof Leicester is a Leicester based charity providing accommodation and support to single people who are homeless, destitute refugees and refused asylum seekers. We provide accommodation in ORL Homes which are shared houses, located across the city. Whilst in an ORL Home we provide intense support to help our residents to recover, reset and rebuild their lives. Once they are ready for independent living, we support them to secure move on accommodation.

  • Working hours: 35 hours per week

  • Salary: £22,316 per annum
